CCEI Gives Thanks with No-Cost Online Child Care Training Course for All

ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), a distance learning professional development and certificate provider, offers online child care training course SOC104: Promoting Empathy and Other “Prosocial” Behaviors at NO COST to new and returning users November 25 – December 2, 2013, in recognition of Thanksgiving.

The holidays are a time for giving thanks for all that we have and focusing on love for family and friends. Empathy, the ability to understand and share other people’s feelings, is essential for truly appreciating what Thanksgiving is all about.

CCEI’s course on empathy promotes meaningful relationships, better communication, and problem-solving skills. It also promotes greater understanding between people of different backgrounds, and it is an essential building block for a secure, prosperous community. This course examines recent social research into empathy and other “prosocial” behaviors, as well as recommended strategies and methods for guiding young children through the early phases of empathy’s long developmental process. Upon successful completion of the course exam, students will receive 0.1 IACET CEU and immediate, unrestricted access to course documentation.

“Empathy is an essential element in personal communication and should be introduced early for optimum development of emotional wellbeing,” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “CCEI offers this no-cost clock-hour for the industry to promote prosocial behaviors from an early age, as well as to thank those who work in the early care industry for their roles in educating our children.”

In order to access this no-cost promotion, visit the ChildCare Education Institute Facebook page during the week of November 25 – December 2, 2013 and locate the post with the words “Thanksgiving promotion code.” Promotion registration access will expire at 11:59 pm on December 2. Please note that users do not need to have a Facebook account in order to view the promo code on Facebook. Our Facebook page is open to the public.

Join the Fight against Diabetes with CCEI Online Child Care Training

ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), an online child care training course and certificate provider, offers NFS100: Healthy Habits: Nutrition and Fitness Practices as a no-cost trial course to new CCEI users during the month of November in recognition of American Diabetes Month® (ADM).

According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly 26 million U.S. children and adults have diabetes and another 79 million are pre-diabetic and are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. CCEI’s Healthy Habits course is focused on developing lifelong nutrition and fitness habits, which can help prevent adult health problems such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, stroke, cancers, and osteoarthritis. This course offers guidance on why and how to develop a nutrition policy, strategies for working with families to promote proper nutrition practices at home, and curriculum enrichment ideas for increasing healthy lifestyle choices and reducing childhood obesity. USDA nutrition recommendations, healthful snacking, and portion sizes are also discussed within the one clock-hour course.

“Diabetes alone is estimated to have cost this nation $245 billion already, and that’s just for currently diagnosed individuals,” said Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “Just imagine if we could put that number directly toward education programs. CCEI’s Healthy Habits course instructs educators on how to promote nutrition and fitness habits that will benefit children throughout their lives and, in the process, benefit society as a whole.”

This beginner-level training course is available as a trial course to new users with CCEI account creation in November. Current CCEI students with active, unlimited annual subscriptions can enroll in all courses at no additional cost when logged in to their CCEI account. Users without subscriptions can purchase child care training courses as block hours through CCEI online enrollment. For more information on programs, training subscriptions, or ChildCare Education Institute, visit www.cceionline.edu or call 1.800.499.9907, prompt 3, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm EST.
